Theo Fox: Barometric Pressure A look at the Blackhawks vs Hurricanes game tonight that could be as good of a benchmark as any coming off the first win and now going up against the NHL's only undefeated team.

Plus, updates on Louis Crevier, Arvid Soderblom, Alex Nylander, and Lukas Reichel.

Thank you, Theo. For all your posting, this is my go-to site for Blackhawks info.
I too am happy to read of Nylander's positive attitude. He has a lot of attributes that indicate he could be an effective NHL player. He has speed and a ++shot. If he learns positioning and any kind of backchecking/breaking up passes and/or shots, he'll be a good add to the roster.

It’s nice to see the Hawks being forward-thinking with Soderblom. I’d keep Subban somewhat sharp in case Fleury or Lankinen get hurt. Although Soderblom has played well, I wouldn’t being him up to the Blackhawks mess right now. I could see Soderblom as the Hawks back-up next season though, and I do think they’ll have a new starter too.

Soderbloom is the only goalie under contract next year.

Definitely playing a game at the opposite end of the spectrum tonight. They looked over-matched in Carolina. Hopefully they can show improvements. Another big loss will kill the confidence they have built the last couple of games.

Have you seen the heat on the Penguins? Reports say head coach of the AHL team assaulted an asst coach's wife in 2018. Asst coach was told to keep quiet about it. Was later fired.

I knew something would come up to take some of the heat off the Hawks, but I didn't think it would be this quick or bad. Damn

And the FA options next summer are not nearly as good as they were this past offseason.

Good morning everyone. Fine day out there!

Kyle to sign Flower to a 4 year, $5M AAV deal; the board to beg for the return of Stan.

Looks like they are playing a similar system in the AHL

He's only facing 48 shots on goal per game, giving up 4 goals a game and over a 900 save percentage

HF! If true that will cost them more than Beach because it's recent. Can't make this poop up and it happens everywhere.

Arvid also has more wins the fluery or lankinen combined and has a .917 save % thru 3 games. rockford is a mirrior image of CHI they give up a ton of shots. I think he has made at least 40 saves every game one game 47 on 53 shots (his worst game) still a 887 save % that is hard to do when you give up 6 goals.

I think Arvid and Drew are 1 A and 1 b. He is bigger, had .924 save% 2 years ago and .922 in the SHL last year. Drew was .915 last year and is .911 this year. he is just shy of 3 years younger.

Pretty close to the last two years, except he is playing on a team with more firepower so the actual goal numbers look better. He is also being deployed in a more defensive role, and only playing about 16 mins per night.

Sorry - that should be 19 mins per night.

After the Duncan Keith trade I got linked to these two Edmonton you tube blowhards who called GM Holland an idiot, that Slater Koekoek was enough instead of taking Keith's contract in full and a there set of the considerations.

I do wonder what they think now.

Last time I looked, his xGF was at 52%. Based on TOI he's playing 2nd pair, and just scored his first goal as an Oiler the other night.

I don't think the Hawks are at the point where they can measure themselves against a team like Carolina just yet.

The Winnipeg game may be tough but the 4 after with Nashville, Pittsburgh, Arizona and Seattle should help at least determine how close they are to the bottom of the barrel or not.

High shot quantity builds character in young goalies. It's part of the plan.

I think if you look at the games realistically, and the level of play in each, the Hawks should probably be 3-6-1 Maybe 3-5-2. If that were the case does anyone think differently of where they are at in relation to the rest of the division/league at this point.

Beating a dead horse, but so much of this points to coaching.

Borgstrom is on the ice for Blackhawks morning skate. He’s the last guy out of COVID protocol.

Kalynuk is also on the ice.

I think you're dead on.

I posted here that I expected them to be 3-6 in October, based on the teams they were playing, which was a relatively difficult October schedule. I figured they beat NJD & Detroit, and one of either NYI or VAN at home.

So no, it hasn't changed my feeling that, as constituted, I don't think they are a playoff team, best case they're on the bubble.

It's going to be even more difficult, clawing back from the awful start.
